Although it is seldom reached, the idea of getting more and paying less is the ultimate goal of every shopping venture. Unfinished Furniture Showcase (UFS) was born out of this fundamental idea. Let me explain:
The winter of 1995 found Mississippi Gulf Coast native Jeff Savarese and his family shopping for an entertainment center with the idea that one made entirely from real wood provided the best value. After an exhaustive month of shopping, he and his family concluded that none of the local furniture stores or department stores could fulfill their simple requirement for all real wood construction! Astonishingly, even the finest of stores offered only a few pieces of real wood combined with a major portion of particleboard and simulated wood grain veneers! Not content to settle for less than real wood, the Savarese’s decided to wait. Maybe they would have to hire someone to custom build their entertainment center.
Then it happened! When and where they least expected it - during the next family vacation and across the street from their hotel - they stumbled upon an unfinished furniture store stocked with ALL real wood furniture! What’s more is that the prices were considerably lower than the furniture filled with particleboard that they had priced earlier. This was the value for which they had been shopping. Here they could get more for less, a quality product built to last for a reasonably low price. It was like a dream come true, except for the fact that they were hundreds of miles from home and had no way to get furniture of that size to their home. It was at that very moment that Jeff realized a store like this was just what the Mississippi Gulf Coast needed.

The rest, as they say, is history. In the fall of 1996 the first Unfinished Furniture Showcase was opened in Gulfport , MS. Since that time, Jeff has opened several stores and this website with the help of his Chief Operations Officer, John
Sylvia, III. Currently, Jeff has three Unfinished Furniture Showcase stores - one in Gulfport, MS; one in Covington, LA; and one in Baton Rouge, LA. In 2007, Jeff partnered with John on the Jackson, MS store and John is now the owner of this website as of June 2008.
